EP // Allégresse – Comité balnéaire

i’m thinking about the moment of takeoff. i’m getting the feeling in my chest of having left something important behind and it being too late to go back and get it.

the bottom is falling out, slowly. i am finding peace with the depth, slowly. i am learning to love the absence of directionality. or if not “love” then at least “anticipate without fear”.

comité balnéaire began as the solo project of manon raupp when she was at art school in toulouse and making music at home as part of a correspondence program with inmates. that’s what it said in the google doc press release. i find that thought captivating. manon tells me that some of the inmates made pictures of water, despite not knowing her moniker (comité balnéaire translates to “seaside committee”).

i, too, see oceanic blue. shot through with rays of buttery yellow. percussion the shape of a body suspended in midair.

music is not the same as freedom, but what if it was the closest you could come to it?
