Lily Seabird // Trash Mountain (1pm)

Post by Misha //
There’s a breathless off-kilter-ness to this song that puts you on notice, even in the midst of what seems like familiar – even comforting – territory. It still finds a way to unseat you. Like revisiting a place you once knew very well, and realizing you don’t know it at all. All the little details that tend to get sanded down into the background through routine and predictability suddenly peeking out and impossible to ignore. The colors and textures newly mystifying.
It’s the the way the words are broken up in odd ways that does it, I think, for me. Little hiccups and hairpin turns between syllables that usually fit together airlessly. It only takes a single degree of strangeness, a tiny turn away from the expected, to make you sit up and pay attention.
