Art Gecko // Kuiper Belt

I listened to this song and it reminded me of a dream I had recently, about clouds.

The clouds are suspended on long cables from the rigging of a soundstage. They are made from large blocks of what appears to be compressed dryer lint, or maybe the gray speckled material they make moving blankets out of. The clouds move overhead via a rudimentary system of rails and pulleys. They jostle and swing on their cables. A little further out, darker clouds are being hoisted up and mounted on the rigging. They are made from the kind of spiky black foam that lines equipment cases. We look up from far below on the ground, expecting rain.

Later, I watched the video for the song, which also features clouds. The clouds in the video are impressionistic, gestural daubs in the sky. It’s funny how the idea of a thing can often be more moving than the thing itself. Anyway. Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. Art Gecko is playing a show in Seattle and I will be there.
